Poker Hand Nicknames Explored

Poker Hand Nicknames Explored
One sign to show that you are really conversant with poker would be where you can show a good understanding of the various poker hand nicknames. Before we can get deep into an exploration of those poker hand nicknames, it may be a good idea, for the benefit of those coming across these things for their first time, to mention something with regard to what, exactly, a poker 'hand' is. And as it turns out, a poker hand is simply a poker card holding. Poker, as we are all aware, is a cards game. Now the question of 'hands' becomes relevant when trying to determine who the winner of a particular poker game is. A particular combination of cards is called a hand, and a scoring criterion applied to the different combinations, so that some 'hands' are seen as being more valuable than others. So in most poker games, it is the person who ends with the 'highest' hand who is said to be the winner of the game.
Since Texas Holdem is the most popular poker game, we now proceed to explore some poker hand nicknames in it, so as to get an idea as to what pattern the nicknames tend to take.
Starting with the hands that are made of the ace higher card, the nicknames we would be looking at would include the likes of 'American Airlines,' the 'Flying Nazis,' the 'Snake Eyes,' the 'Two Pips' and the 'Pocket Rockets.' What all these have in common is that they have two 'A' cards in them, so that the ultimate pattern will have an 'AA' somewhere.
For the AK card combination, we would be looking at poker nicknames such as 'Korean Airlines,' 'Santa Barbra,' 'Big Slick' and the 'Kalashnikov.'
For the AQ card combination, some of the poker nickname we would be looking at would include the likes of 'Missus Slick,' 'Big Chick' or 'Big Slut' to name but a few.
Moving to the type of hands that are characterized by numeral combinations, and taking, for instance, the 66 combination, popular poker nicknames would include 'boots,' 'cherries' and 'kicks.' For something like the 62 combination, a popular hand nickname would be 'Aimsworth' with 'Blocky' and 'Jimmy Summerfield' being popular poker nicknames for the '63' card combination.
For the type of hands that are characterized by combinations made of both numerals and alphabetic characters, popular poker hand nicknames would include 'Mobile Hand' and 'Countdown' for the T9 combination, with 'Sweet Sixteen,' being a popular poker hand nickname for the T6 hand. For the T5 card combination, popular nicknames include the 'Dime Store,' the 'Five and Dime' and the 'Woolworths.'
This is by no means an exhaustive exploration of the available poker nicknames. Indeed, it is hardly even a look at 1% of the available nicknames. There are arguably more than 1,000 poker-nicknames, seeing that besides these popular and widely used nicknames, in every fraternity where the game is played, we tend to see the emergence of local poker nicknames. Ultimately, it becomes essential to master these poker nicknames, though; if only for ease of communication during poker games.
